NYSPA’s annual conference held this past October
at Turning Stone Resort and Casino proved to be an invaluable
experience for its attendees. This three-day conference
exposed the 140 attendees to an array of industry topics
including how to comply with the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) presented by Linda Volpe, master planning
presented by Bergmann Associates, and garage rehabilitation
and repair presented by Chuck Bilodeau of Desman Associates.
Many accolades were given to the technology panel which
consisted of Richard Easley (ESquared), Blake Laufer
(T2 Systems), and Jeff Bernatovich (Ber National).
First time offered at this event was a concurrent training
session, focusing on customer service presented by Kim
Jackson, IPI executive director. Christopher Swift,
parking supervisor at SUNY College at Brockport reports,
“The customer service training motivated and inspired
me. I have loads of information to bring back, which
will assist me in training my staff.” Another
attendee, Kim Gray from the University of Rochester
states, “This conference opened my eyes to believe
that it is possible to have a career in parking.”
This format was so well received NYSPA hopes to offer
a program similar in structure at their 2006 conference
slated for October 16-18 in Buffalo, New York. Come
check it out!
Congratulations to incoming president Robert Hoffman,
Baker Associates.
